# Core Connectors

> Core connectors provide foundational data integration capabilities including file transfer, format conversion, scheduling, and scripting.

CData Arc core connectors encompass a broad range of functionality:

* Connect to remote servers using common network protocols like FTP, SFTP, and SMTP
* Convert flat file formats like CSV (Comma-Delimited Values), TSV (Tab-Delimited Values), and PSV (Pipe-Delimited Values) into XML
* Transform XML structures with the XML Map connector's visual designer
* Schedule automatic file processing
* Expose database resources through a web API
* Execute arbitrary business logic through custom scripting

These connectors serve as the foundation for data integration workflows. These features are augmented by the [MFT connectors](https://docs.arc.cdata.com/26.4/self-hosted/en/connectors/mft-connectors.md) for extensive secure file transfer and the [EDI connectors](https://docs.arc.cdata.com/26.4/self-hosted/en/connectors/edi-connectors.md) for automatic EDI document processing.
